A YOUNG SOLDIER REMEMBERS DEPLOYMENT TO IRAQ

A YOUNG MAN'S JOURNAL OF DEPLOYMENT TO IRAQ WAR

... Part of a young man's journal as written to journalist Toney Atkins during the peak of the Iraq War and a small part of a series to come. This entry is from Toney Atkins' blog, "What I Think About That," and an earlier version is also published at http://www.toneyatkins.com/.

Moving, emotional thoughts that may be representative of many of our youth who left the U.S. somewhat innocent, but returned having seen and knowing too much about the real horror of war. We can see a war movie and walk out of the theater into a free land and think we understand what war is and the feelings that go along with it. I admire and respect this young trooper and wish him well in civilian life. == Raymond H., Tennessee.
